Bicycle Routes
The Cobb County Bicycle Transportation Plan includes three planned bicycle routes in the Town Center area. These routes are delineated along major routes and include:
- Chastain Road from Cobb Parkway to Bells Ferry Road
- Barrett Lakes Boulevard from Barrett Parkway to Chastain Road
- Frey Road from Chastain Road to Shiloh Road
The Town Center area also includes a segment of the planned Statewide Bicycle and Pedestrian Route Network called the March to the Sea Route. This route runs along the western portion of the area, crossing over McCollum Parkway. The route originates at the Tennessee border and travels south through Atlanta and east to Savannah at the Savannah River.

Tips for Bicycle Commuting from the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign
- Plan Ahead - Before you bike, think about your clothes; where to park; how you'll lock your bike; and what you'll do in bad weather. Make a practice run when traffic's easier.
- Wear a Helmet - Helmets keep you safe from a fatality and is the cheapest insurance you can buy. Make sure it meets ANSI standards.
- Be Visible and Predictable - Make sure that other traffic can see you. Use hand signals for turns or stops.
- Ride Your Bike the Way You Drive a Car- Ride on the right, with traffic. Stop at STOP signs and red lights. Ride in a lane that goes where you're going.
- Use Lights in the Dark - Night-cycling accounts for over 30% of cyclist deaths, largely because few use lights. In the dark, use lights on both the front and back of your bike.
- Combo Commute - Take your bike on MARTA or CCT. When the commute is too long to bike the whole way, consider splitting it between driving and biking. You'll save money, burn calories, reduce driving and pollute less!

WALKING
Check back here in March for details of WalkChallnge08!
The Town Center area is working toward creating a more pedestrian friendly environment for walking and biking. CobbRides encourages more developers to include pedestrian amenities in their original plans. Barrett Lakes office park and Town Park Commons office park are excellent examples of incorporating pedestrian amenities.
At present, the CID and Cobb County have constructed sidewalks on at least one side of every major arterial. However the lack of continuity and connectivity limits pedestrian movement. Safe crosswalks, lighting and bicycle paths are being given special attention in the Town Center RoadMap, as well as, their connectivity to regional trails and bicycle routes.
Multiuse Facilities
There are several planned multiuse facilities that will impact the Town Center area, including the Noonday Creek Trail that travels along Noonday Creek. The proposed trail will originate at Bells Ferry Road bridge, then travel west primarily along the northern side of the creek toward Cobb Parkway, then south along Cobb Parkway connecting to planned trails through Ridenhour. A trail extension off Noonday Creek Trail is planned to connect to Kennesaw State University. Additional plans include an extension of the trail through Ridenhour to Greers Chapel Road providing access to the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park property.
