        511 launched
        511Launch

Georgia DOT launched the 511 traffic system this week. This easy-to-remember number provides real-time travel information, such as access to traffic information, commute options, airport, MARTA, ride-sharing and weather information.

Georgia is the 30th state to deploy 511, a call system similar to 411 and 911. However, according to the 511 Project Manager Anthony Bradford, the one in Georgia will be the best, providing access to live operators and direct transfers to other travel and transportation providers all over Georgia.

        Help shape the future

The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) invites you to help shape the future of transportation systems in metro Atlanta. The ARC has developed drafts for short and long-range plans to improve mobility and requests your review and comment.

Envision6 is currently drafted as a $66.5 billion 25-year regional transportation plan. It will be considered for adoption by the ARC Board next month. ARC is accepting public comment through August 23, 2007.

        Employers help reduce gas costs
        SaveGas

A survey quoted in a recent issue of USA Today shows that many employers have adopted programs to help reduce commuting costs for their employees.

With nearly 90% of employees driving to work, companies are helping subsidize vanpools, carpools and transit. Further, 26% of the companies allow some telecommuting.

Providing those sharing a ride with preferential parking spots and reduced parking fees is another way employers are helping.

CobbRides can assist your employer in finding the programs that work for your company. Additionally, through regional partnerships, CobbRides offers a variety of incentives directly to the employee.
