Lose One Ton!

No more weight loss pills or pre-packaged diet food. No more hours sweating on the treadmill. Sounds too good to be true, right? But CobbRides, along with The Clean Air Campaign, has actually found a way to lose one ton...of pollution, that is.
As Smog Season has begun, we invite you to take the One Ton Challenge, giving you an opportunity to help eliminate a ton of air pollution just by using a commute alternative one day per week.
Small changes can make a ton of difference. You do the math:
· Each mile you drive = 1 lb. of air pollution emitted into our air · 40 miles driven (the average metro commuter's daily round trip) = 40lbs. of pollution · 40lbs.of pollution x 52 days = 2,080lbs. (or 1 ton) of pollution you can keep out of our air by clean commuting.
Do your part to reduce air pollution by taking the Challenge today and start CarPooling, riding transit, VanPooling, TeleWorking, biking or walking to work once a week. With gas prices at record highs, there has never been a better time to give up a solo commute. You can even earn cash and prizes for making the switch. For the details, go to: Commuter Rewards
Plus, watch for more details on how you can register to win a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid, courtesy of The Clean Air Campaign, Star94, and Honda Carland!

Confident Cycling
The Atlanta Bicycle Campaign's Confident City Cycling courses give cyclists the confidence they need to ride safely and legally in traffic or on the trail. The course covers bicycle safety checks, fixing a flat, on-bike skills and crash avoidance techniques and includes a student manual. Learning will take place in both the classroom and on bicycles, so students should bring a bike and a helmet to the class. The class includes a practice ride so students can put their new skills to work, with frequent stops for instructor feedback. Recommended for adults and children above age fourteen, this fast-paced course prepares cyclists for a full understanding of vehicular cycling.Learn more |
